Terms and Conditions

These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern your use of sos-schoolofsurvival.com (the “Site”) and your registration for any course, class, or training offered by SOS School of Survival (“SOS,” “we,” “us,” or “our”).

Please read them carefully. By using the Site or registering for a course, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Site or register for training.

1. Who We Are

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to use the Site and to register for a course. By registering, you represent that you are 18 or older and that all information you provide is accurate and complete.

3. Use of the Site

You may use the Site for lawful purposes only. You agree not to:

  • Use the Site in any way that violates applicable law
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Site, its servers, or any connected system
  • Introduce malware, scrape the Site by automated means, or interfere with its normal operation
  • Copy, reproduce, or redistribute Site content except as permitted in Section 4
  • Impersonate any person or misrepresent your affiliation with any person or organization

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Site at any time, without notice, if we believe you have violated these Terms.

4. Intellectual Property

All content on the Site — text, course descriptions, curricula, photographs, video, graphics, logos, and the SOS School of Survival name and marks — is owned by SOS or its licensors and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other laws.

You may view and print Site content for your own personal, non-commercial use. You may not reproduce, republish, distribute, sell, or create derivative works from it without our prior written permission.

Course materials provided to enrolled participants are licensed to that participant for personal use only. They may not be copied, shared, resold, or used to instruct others.

5. Course Registration and Payment

Registration is complete only when we have received full payment and sent you a confirmation. Submitting a registration form does not by itself reserve a place.

Prices are listed in U.S. dollars and are subject to change until registration is confirmed. Course fees do not include travel, lodging, meals, personal gear, insurance, or any other cost unless the course description says otherwise.

Payments are processed by Stripe, Inc. By making a payment, you agree to Stripe’s terms of service. We do not collect or store your payment card details. You represent that you are authorized to use the payment method you provide.

6. Prerequisites and Participant Requirements

Some courses have prerequisites — prior certifications, physical capability requirements, or equipment requirements. These are listed in the course description. You are responsible for confirming that you meet them before registering.

Wilderness training is physically demanding and takes place in remote environments, sometimes far from medical care. You must disclose any medical condition, medication, allergy, injury, or limitation that could affect your safety or the safety of others. We may require medical clearance before permitting participation.

We reserve the right to refuse or end participation, without refund, where we determine in our sole judgment that a participant is unprepared, unfit to continue safely, acting unsafely, refusing instructor direction, or under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

7. Cancellation and Refunds

Our cancellation and refund policy is as follows:

  • Cancellations made [X] or more days before the course start date: [refund terms]

  • No-shows and cancellations after a course has begun: [refund terms]
  • Transfers to a future course date: [transfer terms and any fee]

8. Cancellation or Changes by SOS

Courses depend on minimum enrollment, instructor availability, land access and permits, and weather. We may cancel, reschedule, relocate, or modify a course at any time.

If we cancel a course outright, you may choose a full refund of fees paid to us or a credit toward a future course.

Where conditions require it, we may alter a course’s itinerary, location, or content during delivery in the interest of participant safety. Such changes do not entitle you to a refund.

We are not responsible for any travel, lodging, equipment, time off work, or other costs you incur in connection with a course we cancel, reschedule, relocate, or modify. We strongly recommend travel insurance and refundable bookings.

9. Assumption of Risk and Waiver

Participation in SOS training involves inherent and significant risks, including serious injury and death. Those risks are described in our Disclaimer, which forms part of these Terms.

Participation is conditional on signing our separate waiver, release of liability, and assumption of risk agreement before training begins. If you decline to sign it, you may not participate and are not entitled to a refund. Where that agreement and these Terms conflict on matters of liability, the signed agreement controls.

10. Photography and Media

We may photograph or record courses for training, safety review, and promotional purposes. By participating, you consent to our use of your image, likeness, and voice in SOS materials without compensation, unless you notify us in writing before the course begins that you decline.

11. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Site and its content are provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

We do not warrant that the Site will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free, or that the information on it is complete, current, or accurate.

12. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, SOS School of Survival and its owners, officers, employees, instructors, contractors, and agents will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, or business interruption, arising out of or relating to your use of the Site or these Terms, regardless of the legal theory and even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total aggregate liability arising out of or relating to the Site or these Terms will not exceed the amount you paid to us in the twelve months preceding the event giving rise to the claim.

Nothing in this section limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

13. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless SOS School of Survival and its owners, officers, employees, instructors, contractors, and agents from any claim, demand, loss, liability, damage, cost, or expense, including reasonable attorneys’ fees, arising out of your use of the Site, your participation in a course, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any law or the rights of any third party.

14. Third-Party Links and Partners

The Site links to third-party websites and partner organizations. We do not control them, do not endorse them by linking to them, and are not responsible for their content, products, services, or practices. Your dealings with them are solely between you and them.

15. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Wyoming, without regard to its conflict of laws principles.

Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Site will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Wyoming, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.

16. Severability and Waiver

If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, that provision will be limited or severed to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions will stay in full force.

Our failure to enforce any provision is not a waiver of our right to enforce it later.

17. Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, Disclaimer, and any signed waiver or course agreement, constitute the entire agreement between you and SOS regarding the Site and your participation in our courses.

18. Changes to These Terms

We may revise these Terms at any time by posting an updated version with a new “Last Updated” date. Changes take effect when posted. Continuing to use the Site after that constitutes acceptance. The Terms in effect on the date you register for a course govern that registration.
