SOS School of Survival (“SOS,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the website at sos-schoolofsurvival.com (the “Site”). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and what choices you have.

By using the Site, you agree to the practices described here. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.

Information We Collect

Information you give us directly. When you contact us, request information, or register for a course, we may collect your name, email address, telephone number, and any other details you choose to include in a message or form.

Course and enrollment information. If you register for training, we collect information necessary to deliver that training safely and lawfully. Depending on the course, this may include emergency contact details, relevant medical or dietary information you disclose to us, and any certifications or prerequisites you report.

Payment information. We do not collect or store payment card numbers. Payments are processed by Stripe, Inc., which collects your card details directly and handles them under its own privacy policy and security standards. We receive only limited transaction information such as confirmation of payment, the last four digits of the card, and the amount charged.

Information collected automatically. When you visit the Site, our servers and analytics tools automatically record standard technical information, including your IP address, browser type and version, device type, operating system, referring page, pages viewed, and the dates and times of your visits.

Cookies and Analytics

We use cookies and similar technologies to operate the Site and understand how it is used.

We use Google Analytics 4 to measure Site traffic and understand visitor behavior in aggregate. Google Analytics sets cookies that collect information such as the pages you visit and how long you spend on them. This information is processed by Google in accordance with its own privacy policy. You can opt out of Google Analytics across all websites by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

Most browsers let you refuse or delete cookies through their settings. Blocking cookies may cause parts of the Site to stop working correctly.

We do not respond to browser “Do Not Track” signals, because no common standard for interpreting them has been established.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Process course registrations and payments
• Communicate with you about courses you have registered for, including schedule changes, location details, gear requirements, and safety information
• Plan for participant safety, including staffing, medical preparedness, and emergency response
• Send you newsletters or updates about SOS courses and offerings, where you have asked to receive them
• Maintain, secure, and improve the Site
• Comply with legal obligations and enforce our agreements

Marketing Email

If you sign up for our newsletter or ask to hear about upcoming courses, we will send you occasional email. Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can opt out at any time by using that link or by emailing inquire@sos-schoolofsurvival.com.

Unsubscribing from marketing email does not stop transactional messages about a course you have registered for, such as a schedule change or a safety notice.

How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not rent or trade it.

We share information only in these circumstances:

Service providers. We use third parties to run our business — website hosting, email delivery, payment processing through Stripe, and analytics. These providers may access your information only to perform services for us and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes.

Instructors and course staff. Where necessary for safe delivery of a course, we share participant information — including emergency contacts and disclosed medical information — with the instructors and staff running that course.

Legal requirements. We may disclose information if required by law, subpoena, or other legal process, or where we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, protect your safety or the safety of others, investigate fraud, or respond to a government request.

Emergencies. In a medical or safety emergency during training, we may share relevant information with emergency responders, medical personnel, or your listed emergency contact.

Business transfers. If SOS is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you before your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.

Data Retention

We keep personal information for as long as needed to fulfill the purposes described in this policy, including any period required to satisfy legal, accounting, insurance, or reporting obligations. Course and participant records — including waivers, incident documentation, and medical disclosures — may be retained for an extended period where necessary to establish or defend legal claims.

When information is no longer needed, we delete it or de-identify it.

Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect the information we hold, including encrypted connections to the Site and restricted access to participant records.

No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security, and you send information to us at your own risk.

Children’s Privacy

Our courses and the Site are intended for adults. We do not knowingly enroll participants under the age of 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us at inquire@sos-schoolofsurvival.com and we will delete it.

Your Choices

You may:

• Ask us what personal information we hold about you
• Ask us to correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete
• Ask us to delete information we no longer have a legitimate reason to keep
• Unsubscribe from marketing email at any time

To make a request, email inquire@sos-schoolofsurvival.com. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request, and some information may need to be retained where we have a legal obligation or a legitimate need to keep it — for example, records relating to a course you attended.

Third-Party Links

The Site contains links to other websites, including partner organizations and social media. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those sites. Read their privacy policies before providing them with information.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last Updated” date at the top. Material changes will be announced on the Site. Continuing to use the Site after a change means you accept the revised policy.
